A little slice of heaven in Malaysia!

Rushing to get this post up because a few people have been asking me about this place since I posted it on Instagram!

I think one of the best things about (re) acquainting with the online blogosphere is discovering new travel destinations and Avillion Port Dickson is one such amazing place (Thanks Michiekins!)

The boy and I wanted to take off somewhere beachy for our anniversary weekend (last weekend together before he goes away on detachment!) but because we had only 2 nights, flying to Bali or Phuket wasn’t the most time-efficient and we were so put off by all the bad reviews about Banyan Tree Bintan.

I’m so glad we decided to head to Avillion because it was exactly the kinda vacation I wanted - spa sessions everyday (do call the Avispa in advance to book, I called a week in advance!), lounging by the 24H adults-only pool (the kiddos get to have their fun at another pool away from us), sitting on our balcony and just watching ships go by in the distance, open-sky bathroom… you get the idea.

I fell asleep to the rhythm of crashing waves and woke up to this…

No filter. My friends were saying that they wouldn’t believe this is Malaysia if I hadn’t said so.

One night, there was a thunderstorm and I just sat by the window.. there’s something quite therapeutic about watching rough seas from the comfort of your villa.

We had most of our meals in the resort (their room service is pretty awesome!), but there was one night we ventured out for dinner at Weng Yin Seafood Village.

Our anniversary dinner. I told the boy this is pretty much the same as our wedding- alfresco setting, and also got fairy lights and alcohol too (but now Tiger Beer lah lol)

Food was impossibly good and ridiculously affordable - we ordered two crabs, two prawn dishes (one cereal and one creamy butter), bamboo clams, kailan and beer… and the bill came up to only RM138!!!

It was overall a really good vacay and we thoroughly enjoyed the much-needed break - I needed the massages so desperately!

The only qualm I have is the long drive - GPS states Port Dickson as 3.5 hours from Singapore but it took us almost 6 hours to get there, factoring in the time spent to get us from Serangoon to Tuas, jam at the checkpoints and the stopovers for A&W hehe. I suggest more than one person drives to get there safely :)
