The brand new Weekday Signature Lunch Buffet!
New year, new menu!
I loveeee buffets (ohhh the variety!) and Asian food and like telepathy, my favourite hotel in the world has revamped the menus at Azur to deliver a delightful Weekday Signature Buffet, at an affordable price tag of $ 29.50 ++ per pax!
The very kind Carrie invited me for lunch to sample the new spread and I couldn't have asked for a better dining companion to savour satay, rendang and rojak with!
When Carrie told me that her favourite dish's the melinjo crackers, I was like Why come to a buffet to eat keropok? (of course I didn't say it out loud lah!) but when I took a bite, I can totally see why.
They were sooo perfectly fried till crispy, yet weren't one bit oily and I love how it was really flavourful, lightly salted and not too bitter. Such a treat!
Freshly-grilled satay, anyone?
Executive Chef, Andrew Tharm draws inspiration from his travels, childhood hawker haunts, visits to bustling food streets of Malaysia, and delicious fare from rustic traditional warungs in Indonesia, to create this new signature buffet.
The buffet line-up is an exciting journey featuring recipes from the region, in particular Indonesia, infused with Chef Andrew’s personal style. Some of the menu highlights include flavorsome items such as Singapore Satay, Rendang Daging Palembang and Ayam Panggang Sereh.
So fun to make your own rojak! More youtiao please :raising_hand:
Also available for the Weekday Signature Buffet Lunch is complimentary-flow of Asian beverages such as Traditional Barley and Bandung.
If you're the type that can't take too much "local food" at a go, you'll be glad to know that the buffet spread also offers a good range of ang moh dishes!
This includes freshly roasted whole leg of lamb...
(The carvery menu rotates daily)
And DIY pasta!
Less pasta, more cream sauce and lots of olives please!
And if this weren't already more than enough carbs, I simply had to have a go at the bread basket. Couldn't resist!
Because this loaf looked really cute and was calling out to me somehow wtf and I'm glad I took a slice because it was sooooo freaking good. It was dense and had a strong buttery flavour and I quote Carrie, had this yeasty aroma of freshly-baked bread.
If I can bake like that, I think the husband will hail me a culinary genius.
The dessert selections were also very extensive for a lunch buffet - there were cakes (red velvet! durian!), ice cream and an assortment of meringues and pastries.
And my favourite?
Making my own ice kachang
