Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong

Definitely an experience like no other!

I still remember the exact moment my love affair with Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong started.

We had taken the red-eye and I had stepped off the plane, looking like... well, a person who hasn't slept in over two days. I had full intentions to change out of my lounge pants, slap on blusher and apply some lipstick after clearing immigration to look somewhat presentable to our guide/ driver who would be picking us up.

Imagine my horror - if you can't, picture this as my face :scream: - when I stepped off the plane and standing right at the end of the aerobridge (wayyy before the immigration counters) at 5am was this smiley, chirpy, well-mannered gentleman all suited up and holding a card that read, "Welcome Ms. Flora Lim to Hong Kong!" with the signature Mandarin Oriental fan logo.

And, that's how I knew this trip was going to be like no other.

I arrived at the hotel at 6am and was pleasantly surprised by the early check-in and breakfast waiting in my room.

I was also floored by how incredibly spacious the rooms are! I mean, we know how tiny the hotels in Hong Kong can get, right?

So I crashed into the plush sheets, had one of the best sleeps of my life and woke up deciding if I want to get a facial, blowout or the world-famous Shanghainese Pedicure by Samuel So at the Mandarin Salon.

Life can be so tough indeed.

This was followed by the long-established afternoon tea at the Clipper Lounge. The timelessly elegant restaurant is a huge favourite with Hong Kong locals and hotel guests and I can totally see why with its fine spread of finger sandwiches, sweets, scones and their signature rose-petal jam.

Besides the Clipper Lounge, Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong houses a total of 10 amazing restaurants and bars, of which 3 are Michelin-starred.

This includes Man Wah which serves traditional Cantonese cuisine,

Pierre by legendary French chef Pierre Gagnaire,

And my favorite - The Krug Room in partnership with Krug champagne.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE how this intimate dining space feels so exclusive and regal, as it's done up to resemble the surroundings of a train carriage (Oriental Express, anyone?).

This where you can sample the largest collection of Krug champagne outside of France.

Breakfast was a highlight of its own!

The range was hugeeeee, everything was so flavorful and FRESH.

Like this Air Yogurt I had! It was so fluffy, so light but yet so bodied all at the same time. I've never had anything like that!

Besides the stunning location and amazing food, what truly won my heart was the legendary Mandarin Oriental service.

I know you're gonna say, "Of course you get better service. You're there on a media trip!" But for the record, no, I am absolutely sure the extremely high service standards were not put up for my visit. I get the same incredible service and warmth from every single staff I meet in the hotel, from the bellhops, to the floor butlers and the chambermaids during turndown service - I was seriously left in awe. And then there's the valet box pioneered by the hotel where staff members can deliver laundry, newspapers and other items without compromising on privacy.

And how I was surprised one night with my favorite nightcap.

Which I savored to a view like that...

This takes #fromwhereIstand to a whole new level seriously.

Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong has truly captured every single bit of my heart.

Amazing location by the way! It's right in the heart of Central and literally seconds away from the MTR station.

This was a media stay but opinions, as always, are my own. I'll gladly pay to put up with them!
