My annual Phuket retreat!

For the past few years, I've been secretly making annual trips to Phuket - to recharge, to hide from people (unbelievable but sometimes I have my introvert spells) and to remind myself how much I love Thailand.

I usually avoid Patong Beach cause ironically that's where the party's at lol BUT this time round, I managed to discover a slice of paradise at Amari Phuket.

Tucked away in Patong’s southernmost corner on a tranquil stretch of beach, you’ll be able to zen it out and get off the grid, yet remain conveniently close enough for a stroll to Patong Beach.

First up, the rooms. Amari Phuket offers 380 guestrooms and suites to cater to different travellers and I stayed at the Two Bedroom Suite Club Ocean View Balcony.

At the new Ocean Wing, the suites here are best described as elegant, understated and immaculate. Think floor-to-ceiling windows, sleek furnishing and a private balcony to sit and chill while you take in the view of blue skies and turquoise waters.

Perfectly perched above Patong bay

One of the best things about the Club Suites (besides the panoramic ocean views) is access to the Clubhouse. Read: free-flow cocktails. You can also have your breakfast here in privacy and spend the rest of the day lounging here by the infinity pool.

As much as it's tempting NOT to leave the comforts of the Suite and the Clubhouse, I ventured out twice.

Once to the insanely gorgeous private jetty,

Where the walk there is already something.

And the other time to the beach.

Ok fine, make that three times cause there was one night we took off to the night markets. It's only minutes away - couldn't help it!

My only regret is that I didn't manage to find time (cause I was too busy doing nothing lol) to check out the Breeze Spa but hey, I guess there's this year's retreat for that?

Psst, I highly recommend you arrange for airport transfer from the hotel. It isn't expensive - I would say just slightly more than what you would pay for a taxi ride from Phuket International Airport. In fact, we ended up paying A LOT MORE because our driver ended up taking us for a ride (literally) before stopping by some shady "tour agency" and demanded explained that we either join some tiger tour to enjoy the "discounted price" he'd initially quoted for the taxi ride. We decided to pay "full price" which turned out to be three times more in a very scary 50-minute ride with a very angry driver. When going back however, the driver arranged by Amari to take us to the airport was extremely polite and patient - pretty much like the rest of the staff at the resort!
