8-hour matte and smooth skin without shine!
My skin has been awfully cranky lately. Remember how it got super dry at one point in time? Now that I'm done with my pregnancy, it has reverted to its oily condition. But it's not just typically oily, it's SUPER shiny with a vengeance!
Yet it still remains somewhat dry so it's been a challenge trying to tackle my combination skin!
Did you know there are 3 factors that affect your skin's sebum production?
Hormones: Imbalances and changes in hormonal activity can result in the excess
production of sebum
Improper skincare: Using skincare products that are not suitable for your skin can irritat
and worse acne-prone and oily skin
Lifestyle: Diet and stress are some factors that can influence the production of sebum. For example, a high-glycemic diet (sugar, flour, rice etc) and high stress levels elevate hormones that increase the activity of sebaceous glands, contributing to the formation of acne.
If you have acne-prone skin like me, it is hence important that you stick with a targeted treatment programme, using products from a dermo-cosmetic range that’s created for oily, blemish prone skin.
I was recently introduced to Bioderma’s new Sebium Range which includes the Bioderma Sebium Mat Control and the Bioderma Sebium Lotion.
Can I just say that they are a godsend?!
Both products contain the Bioderma’s Fluidactiv™ Patent which is the only patent in the market that biologically regulates quality of sebum similar to that of healthy skin and stops the process which causes pimples and clogged pores.
The Bioderma Sebium Mat Control with Fluidactiv™ Patent ($36.90) is the line's hero product and this daily moisturiser provides just the right balance of shine control and hydration. It also helps to effectively control excess oil, soothe skin and prevent dryness.
I love, love, LOVE the texture of this product!
It's super soft and feels smooth like silk thanks to its Matt and Smooth Technology which includes mattifying micro powders and silicones that help to instantly reduce shine. Not only does it make your skin feel like velvet, it also promises 8-hour shine control and smoothening effect and provides 12-hour hydration.
To apply, I just put a little on my index finger and focus it mainly around my nose, forehead, and chin in an outward motion. A little goes a long way.
This might be my all-time favorite moisturiser. It works great for my oily post acne-scarred skin and works great as a makeup base. I notice that my makeup stays on longer and seems to blend a lot better.
Sometimes I just apply it as it is when I don't feel like having makeup on.
For best results, you can use it together with the Bioderma Sebium Lotion for optimal shine-control and hydration.
The Bioderma Sebium Lotion with Fluidactiv™ Patent ($33.90) is a non-sticky toning lotion that is specially formulated for Asian skins to soothe and treat oily skin. It contains a blend of active ingredients that helps balance skin’s pH, reduces excess oil and keeps skin hydrated.
In the morning, I simply pour some onto my palm and pat it into my skin with my fingertips. In the evening, I will pour it onto a cotton pad and sweep across my skin in an outward motion to gently exfoliate it while removing all remaining traces of makeup.
I tested the products through an entire work day (which includes going out for lunch in the unbearable noon sun), and I feel that it manages to hold my makeup really well and my foundation stays true for more than 8 hours.
After using the range for a week, I feel that my complexion is a lot clearer and smoother thanks to the Zinc Gluconate and Vitamin B6 in both products which help control shine by reducing sebum production.
The range also helps to minimise the appearance of large pores while refining and improving your skin’s texture in the long run with the help of Salicylic Acid.
Both products work so well on my sensitive skin so I really have no complaints at all!
Definitely a repurchase for me!
