Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass!

When I was first planning my New York itinerary, many of the IG pictures I moodboard-ed were at DUMBO and I kept thinking about that Disney elephant!

So anyway, it stands for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass and has nothing to do with any elephant and to be honest, this part of the city though is in Brooklyn, doesn't feel very Brooklyn-y. Neither does it feel very Manhattan-y. I don't quite know how to describe this waterfront neighbourhood, it just feels like it's in a world of its own with its artistic vibes (there are a number of art galleries here) and restored industrial buildings.

I'll recommend starting your morning crossing the Brooklyn Bridge from Manhattan to Brooklyn by foot (if I can do it, surely you can too) followed by breakfast at one of the many quaint cafes along the way whilst walking to Dumbo.

Then check out the Brooklyn Bridge Park (where you can enjoy some of the best views of the Manhattan skyline!), PowerHouse Books, the iconic Jane's Carousel and perhaps an art gallery or two before stopping by Juliana's Pizza for lunch.

This pizza alone is worth crossing over to Brooklyn for.

And of course, THIS shot that everybody has on Instagram.

(Just show people this picture and they will happily direct you to this very same spot.)

Then end your afternoon with a good dose of sugar from the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory and if your stomach permits, Maine-style lobster rolls from Luke's Lobster!
