Wanton mee FTW!
The boy and I are no strangers to eating the same food twice - the last time we did it was in KL, when we ended up having double doses of Penang laksa, char kway tiao and chendol. Mmmm.
More recently, I was meeting a client when the boy texted "Wanna do lunch?" Told him to come by Sunshine Plaza where I was at so we could try out the very popular Parklane Zha Yun Tun Mee House.
Man, I can really see why they are so popular. I loveeeeddddd their noodles! It was springy with the right amount of al dente or QQ as we locals like to phrase it... well-coated with that sweet dark soya sauce and served with fried wantons, tender char siew and vegetables cooked just right.
It's seriously the best wanton mee I've had in my life!
The boy, on the other hand, was very unimpressed with his lunch. Ok only what... can't believe you made me drive all the way here for this.
While chomping away on our extra serving of fried wantons and drowning them in mayonnaise. Seriously?
The next day, I got a text from him again at noon. "Let's do lunch!"
I hopped into the car and without a word, he drove us to Kovan food centre for Pontian Wanton Mee.
"The wanton mee here is sooooo much better than the lousy wanton mee we had yesterday. You must try!"
"And only this outlet hor. Some of the other outlets cannot make it one..." said the wise man.
So we ordered the exact same dishes as we did the day before (we're very fair food tasters - I even tried to arrange the chopsticks the same way for both photos!) and two bowls of wanton mee and one huge plate of fried wantons (again, drowned in mayonnaise) later..
"No lah.. Parklane's still much nicer. This one no fight."
"Seriously, my wife has no taste."
