The Hong Kong edition!
Hello from Hong Kong!
I don't know what is it with travelling but I often end up getting awfully inspired to write (and in this case, revive this almighty segment of my blog lol) even though I should really be out and stuffing my face with more roast goose. I usually can't decide between Yat Lok, Yung Kee (I know everybody says this is overrated but I really, really, really like the chup aka the sauce they drown the goose in and the century eggs they serve) and Kam's and would love to have one from each restaurant every day if not for the fear of clogging my arteries to death.
Do you guys also get the omg-I-need-hot-tea-NOW feeling after devouring an entire plate of roost goose? Yesterday, the guy at Starbucks took SO LONG to prepare my cup of chamomile (I mean, come on, it's just putting a tea bag into a cup of hot water?!) I thought I would end up with a cardiac arrest in the middle of Lan Kwai Fong lol.
So anyway, Flora's Friday Favourites is back this time round bigger (by that I don't mean me wtf) and better cause here's the Hong Kong edition!
Sun Kee cheese noodles! You can read this blog post for directions + other food recommendations but let's just say this is level 10,000 comfort food. You guys know how afraid I am of cats right (no, Hello Kitty isn't a cat - for real! She's a British schoolgirl lololol) and I had to brave TWO cats at the entrance (one of which was very obese I must add) to get into this place just to have my noodles fix, so if this ain't dedication I don't know what is.
Do go for the egg + sausage + char siew version which I think is better than the pork chop one I had this time round.
You might recognise this pose/ setting if you're an old-time reader of this space but if not, here's the then picture - I have to admit that I am really very sad about what two years + lack of coloured lens + loss of collagen can do to your youth :sob:
$6.95 flip flops from Cotton On.
For some strange reason, I had thought the weather was a cool 19-23 degrees HAHAHA only to realise upon arrival that it's an insane 29 degrees. I had also packed lots of parkas, scarves and ONLY boots + sneakers and had to survive without slippers for the first 3 days which is obviously ridiculous cause can you imagine wearing sneakers to the pool?!?!?!?!?! so yes, flip flops are life savers.
FAVOURITE FACE THANG
The Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo Foundation - a little goes a long, long way with this (I usually use half a pump for my entire face) but its coverage and staying power is insane. It can be a little hard to blend so what I do is to mix it with my Guerlain Météorites Base and a spritz of Erabelle's Rose Otto Hydrosol and they all work pretty well together.
This movie is actually the real reason why we flew all the way to Hong Kong. To be honest, before the media screening, I didn't know much about this rom-com trilogy but after catching it (in a language that I completely don't understand), I now totally get its appeal and why people are such fans of it.
You can read our proper review of the film here on Unscrambled.sg and it opens in cinemas on 4 May and I have a feeling you'd end up like me after watching it, teary-eyed and rushing home to catch up on Parts 1 & 2 till 3am. Thank god for 24-hour McDelivery. Yes, in Hong Kong too!
We also managed to make it to Hong Kong Disneyland and camped it out for THIS shot every Instagram person goes there for.
It's been a while (since New York in October actually) that I've a shot which I think is IG profile pic worthy and well, I guess Disneyland is truly where the magic begins.
That, and the unexpected sakura blooms in the park.
And Mickey Mouse ice cream too. Hello, it's M-I-C-K-E-Y Mouse!
