Moist Diane Extra Moist Review

6 months ago / beauty / hair

Smoother, straighter hair with my new hair regime!

As you guys know, I'm a huuuggeeee fan of all beauty stuff Japanese. I have mentioned it more than once that I go to Tokyo twice, maybe thrice a year to get all my facial washes, moisturisers, sun care and even shampoo. Yup. And conditioner. And treatment masks. And serum.

I suffer from insanely dry skin (omg it can get so flaky these days it's not funny) and if you didn't already know, while hydration is an important part of skincare, it should ALSO be part of your haircare (hair & scalp) routine!

I know that we often think that moisturising/ hydrating hair products = heavy texture and will weigh hair down but good products will actually allow all moisturising ingredients to be easily absorbed so your hair won't end up heavy or oily.

One of the Japanese brands I've discovered and grown to love is Moist Diane! I actually first tried the brand back in 2014 and I'm super happy to know that there is now a renewed version of the popular Moist & Shine range.

The star product from the line is the newly-formulated and silicone-free Extra Moist shampoo. Focusing on hydration for normal to dry hair, the new improved formula uses Gold Pearl Essences and Moroccan Argan Oil to intensively hydrate hair deeply from within and has added anti-frizz benefits.

When hair is moisturised, it gets stronger because elasticity is improved from within which translates to less breakage and healthy, non-frizzy hair that's smooth to touch.

This shampoo is suitable for:

  • Normal to extremely dry hair
  • Frizzy & tangled hair
  • Rough & unmanageable hair

And more importantly, the Moist Diane shampoo is silicone-free. There is now a rising trend towards silicone-free shampoo simply because silicone will weigh the hair down, making it limp, lifeless, and with time, very dull. It also prevents moisture from penetrating the hair shaft and becomes like a magnet for dirt and other ingredients. You can read more about it here.

After shampooing my hair, I will follow with the Extra Moist Straight Style Hair Mask.

Did you know? That it is a popular routine in Japan to use hair mask before conditioner i.e. shampoo → HAIR MASK → treatment conditioner. This actually helps the active ingredients to penetrate deeper into the hair.

I particularly like this hair mask because though its texture is really lightweight, it still intensively hydrates dry hair to prevent split ends. It also amazingly repairs dry and wavy hair for significantly softer and straighter hair without the need for a hair straightener. YES, you read that right!

The result after trying this routine? Hair so straight and smooth I can't believe it myself if not for the comparison photos I took!

If you have thick/ coarse hair like mine, you can do this routine 3 to 5 times a week while fine/ thin hair can go for 1 to 2 times weekly.

After 2 weeks of Moist Diane, my hair is now much smoother and moisturised than before! It also feels stronger and less frizzy and I don't get as many tangles as before.

Let’s fall in love with Moist Diane!
