Expect crazy, crazy views of the Taipei 101!
Taiwan, especially Taipei, is a destination that I don't think I can ever get tired of. Having spent a couple of weeks there as an exchange student during my junior college years, there is usually this odd sense of familiarity coupled with foreignness whenever I return to this city.
During my last trip to Taipei, we stayed at the Shangri-La's Far Eastern Plaza Hotel, Taipei. The tallest hotel in the city, its unparalleled views are nothing short of spectacular, evident from my 101 shots of the Taipei 101 tower lol. The hotel also houses the highest rooftop swimming pool in Taipei!
Dining wise, I've always had great experiences with the Shangri-La group and Shangri-La's Far Eastern Plaza Hotel is no exception. From exquisite afternoon tea at the Lobby Court, to "Taipei's Best Shanghainese Restaurant" Shanghai Pavilion and elegant cantonese dining at Shang Palace, we were spoilt for choice. You might also want to know that the mushroom-looking pastry we had at our dim sum lunch was actually a sweet bun - how cute is that?! We also had an extremely good time at the Marco Polo Lounge, sipping on cocktails at sunset with Taipei's trendiest crowd.
As for the rooms, you can expect traditional Chinese decor jazzed up with modern amenities. I stayed in the Horizon Club Premier Room (which offered crazy stunning views of the Taipei 101 btw) and thoroughly enjoyed the personalised service and exquisite privileges.
Shangri-La's Far Eastern Plaza Hotel is located in Taipei’s Tun Hwa South Road business district and is conveniently situated between two MRT stations located within walking distance. There are also several shopping centres (the hotel itself is connected to a mall!), night markets (because, Taiwan) and entertainment facilities nearby.
All in all, my stay at Shangri-La's Far Eastern Plaza Hotel, Taipei was nothing short of comfortable and welcoming.
Definitely one for the books!
