For anyone who wants to finally make money in stocks.
I went back to class the other day.
It was a one-day financial literacy course... involving numbers and calculating stock value, something I haven't done since my university days. In fact, I don't even know where's my scientific calculator these days.
I arrived on a Saturday morning, expecting to be bored - hence the coffee - but as it turns out, the class was so engaging, interactive and most importantly, informative I was far from bored.
It was an eye-opener.
A little background, I'm not exactly financially illiterate. I did graduate with a B(A) in Economics after all and the hubs and I dabble a little in the stock market.
But I'm pretty much the typical investor.. I buy blue chips or certain stocks because people say good.
Let me give you an example:
If you were presented with these two stocks, which will you invest in?
Me being me, I'd go for SPH.
With the same logic, if I were making a property purchase decision..
I would choose property B.
If you're like me, let me tell you:
"You Are Losing Money Because You Are Trying Too Hard To Invest Like Warren Buffett."
The Value Investing Mastery Course I attended aims to teach participants a rational CNAV framework to buy and sell stocks.
The key word here is rational, where we learn how to make calculated decisions to determine whether a stock is undervalued (or overvalued) and whether the current price is reasonable to pay for investment.
Through the course and various hands-on exercises, you will learn when is a good price to buy and when is a good price to sell based on a quantitative approach so that we can minimize our biases as much as possible. (And not because your banker or coffee shop aunty tell you it's a good time to buy.)
So who are these people behind BigFatPurse?
I'll be honest. Before I attended the course, I was very skeptical about these guys. (Sorry Alvin  )
I was afraid it would be one of those "Get Rich Quick" workshops / Sunshine Empire kinda thing.
But I was proven wrong by these guys who truly want to raise the financial literacy of the working class. In fact, BigFatPurse.com was started by Alvin who had to learn about the importance of financial literacy the hard way when parents had to sell their house because they were unable to afford the mortgage payment.
You can read more about the team here.
So how much is this course?
The Value Investing Mastery Course (VIMC) is priced at $98 for a full-day class from 9.00 am to 6.30 pm (which includes notes, tea breaks and lunch). Quote 'FLORA' to enjoy 10% off.
As long as you invest or wish to go into the stock markets, I will strongly recommend you to enroll in this course. I don't think a strong financial background is needed... the trainers speak very clearly and the materials are presented in a easy to understand manner. I even want to sign my mother-in-law up for this!
