48 hours in Surabaya!
Lately it seems that all I am writing are travel posts!
Truth is, since I’ve stopped planning and shopping for my wedding, my new hobby is to play travel agent. All I do these days in between work is to get excited over cheap flights and then harass people to fly with me. And the boy will in turn get very happy because it’ll mean that he can go fishing -_-
So recently, I managed to score cheap flights to Surabaya (less than $100 wtf) to visit Bryant! I’m really really really falling in love with Indonesia, after my Jakarta trip previously and now this awesome weekend of goooooddddd food, salon blowouts, massages and Moet. Damn act taitai lol.
Up, up and away with Fiona!
First look at Surabaya! I thought they were dried up padi fields haha but Bryant says they are salt farms!
Bryant picked us up and off we checked into the JW Marriott! Hotels in Surabaya are really cheap! I think we paid $90 for our room incl taxes!
I was actually super duper excited about staying here cause I thought it will be really luxurious (spoilt by Hotel Mulia in JKT).
But the room wasn’t that impressive unfortunately :(
Got this picture of the Internet - our room pretty much looked like that … but you know how it is with hotel pictures, they tend to look 30-50% better than the real deal.
LUNCH!!
The real reason why I agreed to visit Bryant. LOL. I tried Duck King when I was in Jakarta previously and it was such a food orgasm!!
This restaurant so deserves a post of its own next!
After lunch, we were deciding between mani/ pedi and getting our hair done (would love to do both if time permitted).
Can’t say No to head and shoulder massages. Not kidding when I say it’s the best I’ve had.
Hair treatment was really cheap! I know, I’m sounding like those irritating cheap cheap cheap Singaporeans but Kerastase treatment was only S$60 and Loreal was $20ish !! And this includes them meticulously blowing your hair into soft curls.
Cam-whoring with our nicely-done hair.
Asked Bryant to take a photo of us… and this is what he snapped wtf.
I look damn ugly here but some photo bomber looks quite cute so I’m uploading this -__-
Wouldn’t be my blog without a selfie ;)
Went back to the hotel for Moet.
Then it was time for dinner!!
Bryant brought us to this ah-mazing seafood restaurant that was so good!
Salted egg crabs!
Garlic clams!
This is seriously the best kangkong i’ve had in my life. The gravy was incredibly yummy!!
Tried this fresh coconut + tangerine juice concoction and it was really refreshing!
Sauces to dip our seafood into - we’re supposed to take a little of each and mix everything up… sounds a little weird but tastes so YUMMY!
Went back to the hotel to our Hello Kitty slumber party.
View from the top :)
Woke up really early the next morning for a 7am massage with Marriott’s health club.
Went back to the room to nua a while after our spa session and breakfast. The buffet selection wasn’t that fantastic to be honest. I have came to the conclusion that Marriott’s food is just bad everywhere in the world :/ The few times I’ve attended wedding dinners at Marriott Singapore, the food was really disappointing :(
View in the day!
And then off we went to the airport :(
But we’re not leaving till we had A&W! #sosingaporean
And then it’s back to Singapore :(
Seriously can’t wait till my next getaway. You know what they say - the best way to get over post holiday blues is to book another one right away ;)
Will be spending Christmas in Tokyo this year! Can’t stop thinking about all the sashimiiiiiii I’m gonna have :D
