Taipei Where to Stay: Westgate Hotel right in the heart of Ximending!

Starting on the Taiwan diaries!

During my recent Taiwan trip, I had the opportunity to put up at a few different hotels and I'll be doing up a mini Taipei: Where to Stay series.

First up will be the Westgate Hotel or 永安棧 right in the heart of Ximending!

Ximending or 西門町 is often termed as the Harajuku of Taipei because that's where most, if not all, of the action happens!

From trendy boutiques to chic eateries, $12 wash-and-blows to other upscale establishments and cultural attractions.

And Westgate is located right in the midst of it all!

My favourite Ah Zhong Mian Xian is literally just around the corner and it takes me only 30 seconds to get from my bed to the Ximen MTR station - I honestly can't think of a hotel location better than this!

I can't stress how comforting it is to come back after a long day (of shopping heh) to my grand suite, complete with its luxurious toiletries and pineapple tarts :yum:

Credit definitely has to be given for their exceptional hospitality - such as how every toothbrush in the room is of a different colour and comes with a corresponding coloured mug to avoid brushing your teeth with your friend's toothbrush mistakenly. (Ewww!)

This hospitality and eye for details extends throughout the hotel, from the small things like the ice dispenser and launderette services made available to all guests, to the well-equipped gymnasium and the sumptuous buffet spread at breakfast!

I also love the one-of-a-kind decorative art pieces placed throughout the hotel.

As for these dragons and the Fat Boy (胖娃娃), they are actually the mascots of the hotel and we were really quite impressed by this contemporary take on traditional fengshui.

I will definitely stay here again the next time I'm back in Taipei!

Thank you dearest Melissa for hosting us. We had a great time!

This was a sponsored stay but the opinions, as always, are entirely of my own.
