Where to stay in Bali

How to glam it up in Seminyak and zen it out in Sanur, Bali.

One of the questions I often get people asking me about Bali is Where to Stay and well, as you know Bali is divided into nine different districts and every neighbourhood has SUCH a distinct flavour and identity... it's really quite hard to decide haha. I'll suggest that you pick at least two localities per trip to experience more of what Bali has to offer.

For my recent trip, I started it in the lively and boho chic suburb of Seminyak and ended it with a revitalising experience in the quaint suburb of Sanur, thanks to Lifestyle Retreats.

IZE Seminyak

For the young and sophisticated, IZE is all about stylish, cutting-edge architecture and interiors with the party central Seminyak right at your doorstep.

The sprawling rooms come complete with jacuzzis and complimentary minibar and I highly recommend you go for the Deluxe Pool Room which has direct private access to the IZE swimming pool right from your room.

Don't forget to make time for a meal (or two, once you've tried their food) at the hotel's Meja restaurant that offers a good mix of Balinese favourites and authentic European dishes - their quesadilla is one of the BEST I've had.

AND their cocktails too. They have some pretty fancy stuff on their menu - such as this Bacon Margarita over here.

Then top off your stay with MORE cocktails at their rooftop bar by the infinity pool, preferably in the evening while chilling to Ibiza tracks and watching the sun set into the ocean.

The Samata

If you're looking for the ultimate Eat, Pray, Love Bali experience, then The Samata is for you.

Imagine waking up to emerald rice fields and the shimmering Indian Ocean in the distance and ending the night with a private candlelight dinner under a blanket of stars, right in the comforts of your villa.

If you're #ForeverAlone like my friend over here, it's also okay. The Samata offers a tennis court, three swimming pools (Chill, Lap and Energy), cross-fit facilities, a professional boxing ring (complete with boxing fitness equipment) and a gym with an extensive selection of equipment, skipping ropes, muscle relaxation oils and personal trainers.

If you're not into exercise at all me, then you'll be happy to know that they also have a spa and a yoga and meditation room, which is available for private or group classes.

Because Sanur is really a very ulu tranquil part of Bali, it's not like you can easily step out into some happening bar or restaurant, quite unlike Seminyak. BUT this is what I like about it where you can really go off the grid, detach from the world of emails... and ponder the meaning of life.

(And how to make Ryan Gosling understand that I AM HIS ULTIMATE SOULMATE!!!)

Outdoor showers FTW

With only 10 exquisite Suites and Pool Villas, The Samata is truly all about exclusivity and luxury.

Oh, oh oh! This idyllic and peaceful resort also makes a great venue for a destination wedding (which is all the rage these days!) in Bali.

Maybe when Ryan marries me? :innocent:
